STUMP GRINDING

CREATE YOUR OUTDOOR SPACE

After a tree is cut down, you are often left with an unsightly stump where the tree use to stand. This not only ruins the aesthetic appeal of an area, but could also be a potential hazard if it’s obstructing walkways. If you have been left with the stump or have just taken on land where stumps are still present, then you will probably find it necessary to remove the stump. If this is the case, then you have two options: full stump removal or stump grinding. Princes Ground Care can ensure the safe, easy removal of the stump.

Stump grinding involves the stump of the tree being ground down using our specialist equipment. This is a heavy duty piece of machinery with a large rotating cutter that can quickly and efficiently help to break up the wood. The remains of the trunk are ground until it is completely below the surface of the soil. The reason for doing this, as opposed to only taking it as low as ground level, is so that the soil can begin to grow over the remnants of the stump. This method causes much less disruption to the earth around the stump than full stump removal, and also usually works out as cheaper.

It is so effective that once the ground has been given time to settle following stump grinding, you shouldn’t be able to tell that a tree stump was ever there. The bi-products from the grinding can also be recycled and used in compost, making it a doubly effective service.

Stump grinding is often regarded as the cheaper alternative to stump removal. Full stump removal is a complete solution to this problem; however this choice – which involves the total excavation of the stump along with roots creates a lot of disruption to the ground around the stump. The more favourable solution, therefore, is often stump grinding.

It is important to remember that stump grinding should be tackled only by a professional. Hiring a stump grinder for a DIY job could still work out very expensive. Why not give us a call, our prices are reassuringly affordable.
